Chapter 8

Aja

“I have missed you so much, Bianca, and I have so much to tell you. I wish we could’ve got all the girls together this time,” Aja told Bianca as they walked down the strip.

“Shit, I don’t; I wanted you all to myself. And do I get to chill with the man that has your ass glowing like Maybelline, baby. I mean, Aja’s Beauty.” Bianca chuckled.

“You can meet him tonight. He told me to tell you to make sure I have a good time and to not worry about how much of his money we spend,” Aja said smiling again.

“Welp! That’s all I needed to know; baby let’s see if we can burn a whole through this black card.” The two best friends walked from store to store and swiped at register after register until they were simply worn out. They stopped by this little Korean place to get food on the way back to Aja’s hotel.

When they arrived to the Marimonte, they asked the bellhop to carry their bags up. Aja tipped that man $300 because he was a real one for bringing up all those bags and boxes. They settled in the room and began eating while laying across the bed. Bianca jumped up. “Bitch, I ain’t laying in your juices, am I?”

She looked at Aja. “Well, if you were it’s kinda too late now, isn’t it?” Aja laughed. “Bitch, I’ll fight you,” Bianca said playfully. As they were talking and laughing, Aja heard the door and felt D’vyne come in, but he felt off. She could feel the heaviness in his spirit. When he rounded the corner there was a smile on his face, but it wasn’t her smile. She knew something was up but couldn’t address it while Bianca was in the room. So, she brushed it off and introduced the two. Eyeing him, Bianca took that as her queue to leave.

“Aight chin…” Aja shot her a look.

“I mean Aja, we’re still on for breakfast tomorrow, right?” she asked walking towards the door. Aja walked her out and gave her hug as they said their good-byes. When Aja walked back in the room D’vyne was standing there so she hugged him and kissed him. He hugged and kissed her back, but his touch wasn’t the same.

“D’vyne, baby,” Aja said, but he said nothing. She called him again and still nothing, then it hit her like a ton of bricks. She remembered what Flan said to her right before they left. Softly, she kissed him over and over while simultaneously calling his name.

Then out of nowhere he spoke. “I need to bathe or shower, I’m sweaty as hell,” he said as he let her go walking toward the bathroom. Aja followed behind him. When they reached the bathroom, she turned the shower on and undressed him. She made sure all of his toiletries were where he could reach them. Before she could head out of the bathroom, he grabbed her arm gently.

“Baby don’t leave me. I need you to stay,” he said lifelessly.
